1.) messenger bag- I cannot stress how important it is to have something big you can carry a lot of stuff around in. I use a messenger bag because for me it provides easy access to its contents. Backpacks work too, but a few warnings: though it has not yet happened to me, I know that there are some bad people who go to these events and steal other people's money/bought merchandise. Backpacks are in a blind spot for the carrier, and can be easily accessed without the owner knowing. Also, messenger bags are nice because they are often lighter than backpacks.
2.) Food and Water- Also very important. I cannot stress the emphasis on the water. I either recommend a large water bottle or 2 small ones. Make sure that the lids are screwed on tight, and refill them whenever the chance arises. Food wise, I recommend either bringing your own, or going to the supermarket a few days before. Do not pack perishables or things that can go bad. I suggest bringing a lot of healthy food that you can snack on on the go, like celery sticks or pretzels. Pack accordingly to how long you plan to be @ Comic-Con. Going hungry can turn into a severe money drain, with slices reaching upwards of $3. Or, alternatively, if you want to go outside for lunch, I strongly urge you to go to the Tin Fish right across from the Convention Center. They have very good food, and the sun (or shade) is often a nice change of pace.
3.) Money- Important. If you want to buy just about anything, I recommend using this. Also, a note. Instead of buying comics from the major stalls in the 1000's, I recommend going into the 100's and looking for them there. They are often easily found @ a much lower price that the suggested retail. Do not spend all your money @ the very beginning. Make sure you truly know what you want before you buy it, because refunds are a no-no (generally).
4.) Outfit- Unless you are cosplaying, comfort is the goal. Layering is generally for the better, since temperatures may vary. Make sure you are wearing a shirt you are comfortable in; short sleeves are usually better than long ones. I wear shorts, but as long as what you wear is comfortable and able to breathe it is okay. Wear plenty of deodorant. With the large masses moving around, not wearing deodorant is SO gross. Comfortable socks and shoes are THE HIGHEST PRIORITY. No sandals, flip flops, high heels, boots, or uncomfortable footwear. Wear a belt. No one wants to see your boxers, believe me.
5.) Transport- Parking sucks. Trust me, no matter what you think, you will not find a space. Instead, I recommend 2 things. One: Walk to a trolley and take it to Comic-Con, or 2: Drive across the bay to Coronado, that island attached by the huge blue bridge. Park near the Ferry Landing, and take the Ferry over; just make sure you are back in time, or find other means of getting home.

Duet
I wish I knew how to play the piano,
So we could play it together.
Just the two of us.
Just me and you.
The way it used to be...
A duet.

"We'll blow this shit up..."
"The source! Go back to the source!"
"Why so serious?"
